HOW CAN WE HELP THE ELDERLY IN KZN THIS MANDELA DAY?

South Africa is under attack and this past week has been a sad part of our history. The most unequal society in the world, will be even worse off. It is at times like this that we feel hopeless and helpless.

50Plus-Skills is a community that focuses on how the older adults in society can learn, serve, and earn together. At this time, we would like to stand together and support an organisation in the middle of the crossfire supporting many of our elderly in KZN.

TAFTA is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 002093) dedicated to serving the needs of Durban’s elderly residents. Our elderly are at risk right now without food, medical supplies and the care and resources needed. https://www.tafta.org.za/home.php

We have been in touch with Femada Shamam, their CEO and will collect funds on their behalf and work with them and service providers to meet their current, urgent needs.

In South Africa on the 18th of July, it is Mandela day. A day celebrated all around the world. He said these wise words.

A society that does not value its older people denies its roots and endangers its future. Let us strive to enhance their capacity to support themselves for as long as possible and, when they cannot do so anymore, to care for them.  Nelson Mandela

This is what we want to do.

  2. If you have other solutions, feel free to share them with us via email: info@50plus-skills.co.za
